Carla Hartig, Weippe City Clerk reminds us that the 2009 dog licenses are due. If they are purchased after Jan. 15 the price doubles.

Snow, snow and more snow. I wanted it to come, now I wish it would go. It's a double-edged sword, beautiful in its pristine whiteness but difficult to maneuver through. Fortunately our highway department is doing its usual heroic job of keeping the back roads clear. City workers are also churning away at the white stuff.

Remember the recycling program at the Pierce Tech Center if you have any used inkjet and laser printer cartridges and cell phones. You can take them to the Pierce Library or call Carmen Syed at 464-1088.

Timberline HS Girls have a game in Culdesac Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. and will play Kendrick Friday, Jan. 9.

There was no pinochle Sunday as Dolores was ill and the roads were unnavigable in some areas.

The setting of New Year’s goals or New Year’s resolutions is part of the letting go of the old and the ushering in of the new. Have you made your New Year's resolutions yet?

Carmen Syed sends a note that the Pierce Community Center is offering pre-school tumbling every Thursday from 4 to 4:45 p.m., starting Jan. 8 for ages 2 to kindergarten. The cost is $2.50 per week or $10 prepaid per six weeks. The instructor is Linda Barlow. The class may go longer, the exact number of weeks has not yet been decided. Call the Center at 464-2443 to pre-register. The child’s parent/guardian is required to attend and assist with the class.

Also at the Center, skating is free for kindergartners this Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
