The Nez Perce Tribe Department of Fisheries Resource Management is recruiting for: WATERSHED RESTORATION SPECIALIST 1 HR-14-193 full-time regular based in Joseph, OR. The incumbent will join a highly professional and experienced team working on restoring and protecting aquatic ecosystems and watersheds critically important to fisheries restoration, Nez Perce Tribal resources, and all people. This position will participate in all aspects of watershed/aquatic ecosystem, protection and restoration projects that include data collection/analysis, landowner relations, GIS analysis, environmental assessments, project, design/cost-estimates, permitting, contracting, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and report/grant writing. Typical projects include restoring fish passage, stream/riparian/floodplain restoration, reducing road related sedimentation, agricultural/grazing best management practices, instream flow restoration, and invasive weed control. Field duties include landowner contact/coordination and leading field work logistics/planning/crews. Position requires coordination with private, local, state, federal, and tribal entities. Applicant must be highly motivated and have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in the field of watershed sciences, fisheries biology/resources, hydrology, natural resources, or other closely related field. Technical and demonstrated leadership experience preferred. Pre-employment drug testing required. Requires a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured under the Tribe’s policy.
